Threat Preparedness
In recent years the emergence of old and new diseases, as well as the growing concern over bio-terrorism has revealed a need for us to be better prepared to protect the health of everyone.
Surveillance efforts are aimed at recognizing that there is an outbreak of illness, be it naturally occurring or caused by a bio-terror attack. The rapid detection of events that may indicate that there is an immediate threat to the health of a community is important in responding to prevent the further spread and control an outbreak.
