International Travel Vaccinations
International travel vaccinations are vaccinations to protect travelers from illnesses present in other parts of the world and to prevent the importation of infectious diseases across international borders.
Most vaccine products can be given during one visit for persons anticipating imminent travel.
Some vaccines require more than one dose for best protection. Doses given at less than minimum intervals can lessen the antibody response.
Some International Travel Vaccines that are available are:
- Yellow Fever
- Japanese Encephalitis
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis A/B (combination Twinrix)
- Tdap or Td
- and others…
Unless the vaccines given are booster doses of those typically given during childhood, vaccines may require a month or more to induce a sufficient immune response, depending on the vaccine and the number of doses in the series.
