What do I have to do if I join the program?

We will be supplying you with a folder containing sheets for you to keep track of certain important things like the amount of exercise done and what you are and are not eating.  Each month we will set up an appointment for you to come in and talk to me and tell me what you have learned that month.  There will be new information given each month and your folder will be checked to see the progress you have made.

Why have a program like this?

Childhood inactivity is becoming more and more prevalent in the United States.  This growth can attributed mainly to a lack of adequate exercise.  Childhood inactivity can cause a number of problems such as social problems and a vast number of health problems in children up through adulthood.  Children have become less active due to watching more television, playing video games and computer usage.  Children are also eating more junk food than ever before. PACE is a program designed to help children make better nutritional choices and to get them exercising more.

I want to join!  What do I do?

Just ask your parents to bring you down to your local health department to fill out a Program registration form.
