The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department (MOVHD) has an obligation to ensure the food establishments in the Mid-Ohio Valley region provide safe and sanitary food for the public. The WV Food Establishment Rule, effective July 1, 2008, governs retail food establishments such as restaurants, bars, grocery stores, schools, hospitals, day cares, temporary food stands, etc. The rule incorporates, by reference, the majority of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) 2005 Model Food Code.
The MOVHD offers Food Handler classes at the Wood County office. There are also online classes available. To learn more about these services, click here. To fill out a Food Service Application form, click here.
