Adolescent Immunization Action Week is April 6-10, and the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department is encouraging teens to get up-to-date on their vaccinations to stay the healthiest they can be.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends the following schedule for pre-teens and teenagers:
- Ages 11-12: HPV, Meningitis, TDaP, annual flu vaccine and COVID-19, based on individual risk factors, prior vaccination history and family preference.
- Ages 13-15: Catch up on any missing vaccines, annual flu vaccine and COVID-19, based on individual risk factors, prior vaccination history and family preference.
- Age 16: Meningitis booster and/or Meningitis B, annual flu vaccine and COVID-19, based on individual risk factors, prior vaccination history and family preference.
- Ages 17-18: Catch up on any missing vaccines, annual flu vaccine and COVID-19, based on individual risk factors, prior vaccination history and family preference.
Parents should consult with their family healthcare provider as to what vaccinations their child needs.
